Brisbane Regional training day

On Sat 28th November, 2009 I went to SUp!'s
Regional Training day at the Hilton, Brisbane.

It was a brilliant day with approx 200 people attending.
30 of those there were from our Paper Angels group.

We got to "play" & make 4 projects using new product from the new Summer Mini Catalogue.
(see below post for more details)

Stampin' Up! representatives & fellow Qld demonstrators shared tips on workshop ideas & we were treated to demonstrations of great techniques ... I have to try the faux reptile ....

Aaron Scott, CEO Stampin' Up! Australia, made a card with no glitter & yet still managed to get some on himself & his card thanks to the exposure of his Crop-a-dile to Dazzling Diamonds in the past ... how funny. My husband is now used to going to work with glitter somewhere on himself!! Occupational hazard... hee hee.

I had made 31 cards to swap with other demonstrators, so I have some lovely cards to show you. Swapping is a fantastic way to get new ideas, techniques & colour schemes using stamp sets I may not have. Though the new Butterfly Prints stamp set & Butterfly Punch featured prominently! It's not just me that loves this new beauty!!

Summer Mini Catalogue, Butterfly Prints stamp set & Butterfly Punch

New Summer Mini Catalogue

You can view the new Summer Mini Catalogue by following the link below:

This is my favourite Summer Mini stamp set (so far!!) Butterfly Prints (pg 12) with co-ordinating Butterfly Punch.. yah!! again!!! (ha ha) ... AND it gets even better, as this new punch also co-ordinates with our Idea Book & Catalogue's Flight of the Butterfly (pg 82).

This is a photo of the card I made using these stamp sets & punch as my 'swap' for our recent Stampin' Up! Regional training day that was held at the Brisbane Hilton. So easy!!

New Summer Mini Catalogue now available

"Out with the old & in with the new" is an adage that isn't always enjoyed by some people, however, with the Spring Mini finished we can welcome Stampin' Up!s new Summer Mini Catalogue... yah!!!

New stamp sets, punches (I love punches!!), accessories - such as rub-ons, accents, ribbons, hardware & buttons ... ohh! the fun!

You can view the new Summer Mini online by following this link:

http://catalogs.shoplocal.com/stampinup/index.aspx?pagename=storefinder&storeid=1039381

If you are attending our last 2009 Stamp Club this Sat 5th Dec at 7pm you will receive a complimentary copy!! (I have a couple places left available)

My favourite Summer Mini stamp set (so far!!) Butterfly Prints (pg 12) with co-ordinating Butterfly Punch.. yah!! again!!! (ha ha) ... AND it gets even better, as this new punch also co-ordinates with our Idea Book & Catalogue's Flight of the Butterfly (pg 82). I made cards using these as my 'swap' for our recent Stampin' Up! Regional training day that was held at the Brisbane Hilton. I will post photos soon.

At the Regionals we used Hello Again & the matching Retro Remix Stampin' Around Wheel. I was thrilled with the projects.
There is a fantastic 1 3/4" Circle punch to co-ordinate with our new Sweet Treat Cups & some very bright & happy Kaliedoscope Designer Series Papers, cute Animal Stories & handcrafted crocheted flowers to accent your creations.!!

Remember that if you want anything especially for Christmas then you will need to let me know by 15th December, to ensure delivery!

All the best & happy stamping!!

Christmas Card events update!

Hello again,

It has been nearly a month since I updated my blog, I apologise, I have been rather busy with the Annual Christmas Card Charity Events. We only have one more event, tomorrow, to finish the six. Including tomorrow, I will have attended three. I have thoroghly enjoyed my days & the ladies that have shared the days with me have been wonderful & had fun too. Touch wood, but my record still stands, that at least one of my table wins one of the fantastic raffle prizes!! Well done!!! Yahhh!!! I feel like I win when you do. Stampin' Up! have donated so many prizes, & the demonstrators have added to this as well. Amazing prizes!!! (yes, I'm jealous! - but it's all for a great cause... the ongoing support of the Mater Mother's Bereavement Program)

If you missed out on attending the Christmas events, maybe you would like to join us for our next event. I'll keep you posted as to waht / when / where that will be.

All the best

"I Wish" Stationary Box

I am so excited about this one...

The Stationary Box was designed by Jackie Topa. I needed to make some changes to the box as AUS cards & envelopes are slightly larger than the ones in the US.

For this project I had Christmas in mind.

Using only 1/2 pack of the SUP! "I Wish" Scrappin' kit (pg 137) & a few extra pieces of co-ordinating cardstock I have made the box, 10 cards, 8 gift cards & 8 gift tags!!! Wow!

In these pictures the inside of the box is not quite finished. To be added is a pen holder, the postage stamp wallet & the "Wish List".

I looked at lots of pictures on the Net of how other demonstrators have used this kit in their card making. Special thanks to Lynette Couper, NZ & DsyLou for your inspiration.

I hope you enjoy my adaptation.

This Stationery Box would make the perfect gift for so many people ... the next kit in my "sights" is Sweet Nothings, it's such a beautiful kit.
My wonderful friend, Yvonne, has been stamping ... & so beautifully!!!

Using Playful Petals & the Eyelet Border punch, Yvonne has made this simple & very elegant blue & white card. .... don't forget the glitter!

This is a variation of the Bookmark card (you will find another version in my Cards section)

Wow, this is so dramatic .... & again, gorgeous!!

When you pull out the useful Bookmark gift, the card is still a complete card.

Yvonne is not only a talented stamper, she is also an accomplish Parchment crafter.

This is the gorgeous parchment card she made for my daughter, Kirsten's 5th Birthday.

Thank you, Yvonne, for allowing me to share these beautiful photos.

Altered Teabag Box

I decided to clean up my craft desk & I rediscovered an empty Tetley teabag box. Now I love my cups of tea but it did take me awhile to remember WHY I had an empty teabag box on my desk....

Ahh!! that's right. I was impressed with the box itself, as it is a top opening self sealer.
I was going to pull it all apart to make a template but decided against it.

But what to do with it??
.... as it is the perfect height I can use it to store my loose Stampin' Write Markers in!!!

I decided I really didn't want a teabag box on my desk & I have all these lovely Stampin' Up! Designer Series papers ... my choice here is the Bella Blue papers. Using a couple of self adhesive (contraband!!) rhinestones & a small flower from the Pretties kit to add some "bling" I now have a practical & attractive storage solution. Even my husband is impressed :-)

If you can half decently wrap a boxed gift then you will find this an easy & pleasant craft activity. I'd love to see what others can 'alter' - perfect recycling!

I knew I drank so much tea for a reason... ha ha

New Mini Catalogue card sample & Spots

Did you know that the Stampin' Spots can be used for more than just inking stamps? The background here was made twisting my Rich Regals spots directly onto Whisper White cardstock. The colour combinations are endless.

These two cards are made using the new Parisian Breeze Specialty & Ski Slope Designer Series Papers, new ribbon, Scallop Oval punch & Oval All & Gallery stamp sets available in the new Mini Catalogue. We made them at the last monthly Demonstrator meeting. Aren't they absolutely gorgeous.

While this beautiful creation was made using Whisper White card stock & Riding Hood Red Designer Series Paper. You can see there are places for photos, letter or sentiments to be added.

Above are the cards we made at the Techniques Class & my lovely guests.

Techniques Class / Shoebox event
On the 18th July I held a class (above), there were 10 lovely people who came. Everyone made 8 cards, incorporated into these 8 projects were techniques such as Water Colouring, Sponging, Rocking & Rolling, Masking, Kissing, Ghosting, Chalk Boarding & more. We used lots of tools: crimper, brayer, stamp positioner, Aqua Painting, etc. Amazingly nobody needed valium when they left smiling & no one threw anything at me either!! It was a lot of fun.

Thank you to all for making the afternoon so enjoyable!!! I have already been asked to run another one.... so if there is a technique or tool you'd love to know how to use, or if you'd like to get some friends together & have me run this class again, then please let me know & I'll see what (& when) I can organise something.

Touching base again ... :-)

I have been rather busy of late so my poor blog has been sadly neglected. Below is an entry that shows you a little of what I have been up to ... I am certainly not complaining, I'm having a lot of fun!!!

All the best to you

Kind regards

Jen x

I have "borrowed" this entry entirely from my papercarft manager, Liz's, blog who is such a lovely supportive person. Liz has said it all so well ...Thank you Liz & thank you Jerry for a really nice day.

St Pauls Manly Market Day

Just over a year ago I was asked if I would contribute a stall/display at St Paul's Market Day. One of the lovely things that happened that day was that my friend and fellow demonstrator Jen met Jerry, one of the local parishioners, who then joined our 'Paper Angels' Group of Independent Stampin Up Demonstrators. This year Jen, Jerry and I worked together on the St Paul's Market Day. One of the absolute highlights of this day is the very professional 'sidewalk cafe' known as 'Pauls on Ernest', which serves everything from professional coffee, delicious gourmet breakfasts and delicious handmade cakes. Jerry went to so much effort making the fabulous table numbers, decorating them with stamping and messages inviting people to come and make a complimentary card with us.

St Pauls had a fabulous display of historic Christening Gowns which was very special as well as displays and a fashion parade of wedding gowns over the years. Other attractions included the local school band, Caprice Dancers and of course complimentary Stampin Up Make & Takes. I was able to snap some photos of Jerry and Jen showing how easy and fun stamping is. The wonderful thing was that we had a great range of people stop by and we really enjoyed sharing the cute little card we had all come up with for our make & take.

The rector of St Paul's, Canon Keith Colbert, is quite a character (clearly loved by all the parishioners) and has a way with words. In his welcome flyer he noted 'Fetes are occasions to buy goodies not usually available anywhere else. Proper Coconut Ice and Fudge, padded coat hangers and rag dolls, are not common in the shops, but what would life be without them?' Indeed, there is something comforting about finding these traditional items, which like hand stamped cards, remind us of the enjoyment of simple pleasures. Thank you Jerry and Jen for all your hard work and inviting me along - it was a lovely morning.

Monday, July 6, 2009

This beautiful cupcake display is one you can admire completely guilt free ... Liz made these cupcakes from cardstock & Our Designer Series Papers ... aren't they gorgeous?!

even though my photography is a bit sad this littel card is happy! If you would like to enlarge the image you will notice that the lower half has a scoring feature. Can you see how the rolled & sewn cardstock on the right matches in with the ribbon?

Invite to Paper Angels Monthly meetings!

You are invited!!
to our Stampin' Up! Demonstrator's Meeting

I would love to share a monthly demonstraors meeting with you, where you will see and experience what we demonstrators do when we get together ... such as making this cute little box using the Top Note template.

Basically, just like a workshop, we get together to stamp & we always complete at least 2 projects, share our projects & ideas.

Our Paper Angels group is made up of a variety of ages, experience and Demonstrator types (Discount/Hobby/Career), however, we all share an enjoyment of getting together & sharing what we love to do.

I know that you will enjoy the experience, which is why I would love you to come along.

Where: Carina leagues Club, Creek Rd, Carina

When: Wednesday 29th July 7.30pm - 9.30pm
Saturday 29th August 2.30pm - 5pm

Cost: $10 covers room hire, afternoon tea, project materials. Please bring adhesives, scissors & bone folder.

Stampin' Up! 09 Convention swaps & news

Last weekend the Aus & NZ '09 SUp! Convention was held in Canberra. I didn't go ... but luckily my team leader, Liz, was happy to help me out & I sent along some swaps - these are projects swapped between other demonstrators. It is a wonderful way to get ideas, see different colour schemes, stamp sets & techniques - These are the swaps I got in return. Some demonstrators made 50 swaps... wow

Brilliant news... Liz was awarded the Heart of Stampin' Up! award - this is a really special award & Liz is a wonderful person, I am very happy for her.

May weekend and Bookmark card

This is where I spent my May long weekend... it was pretty tough, but someone had to do it!

----------

Bookmark card

The idea of this card is a gift & card in one ....

slip out the bookmark gift...

& then you have bookmark & card!

I used Playful Petals stamp set (thanks for the loan Kate!!)
& Sincere Salutations.
Cardstock used: Confetti White, Old Olive, More Musturd & Ruby Red. Vanila grosgrain ribbon, Aqua Painter & Dazzling diamonds ... glitter... yah!

Surprises - Raspberry Tart DSP part 2

Gift Box Album

The hardest thing about the lid is making the ribbon flower on top! It is ok if you have about 4 hands, ha ha, or some paper clips would suffice :-) Then you open the lid & ......

Gift Box Album (inside)

Of-course it will look more impressive when I put the photos in! There are pockets, journalling slips, mini cards & enough room to put up to 14 photos inside ... this is the perfect gift!

--------
Below is a Pop Up Accordian card

I had a lot of fun making this as well, it is something I hadn't tried before but as I love pottering in the garden.....
... I made this special little flower patch to pop up & say hello! I have used the One of A Kind stamp set & matching Boho Blossoms punch, also the 5 petal flower punch. Again staying with the Rapberry Tart Designer Series Paper theme & co-ordinating cardstock, ribbon & inks.
